Display Developments were recently delighted to hear that their external poster cases are to appear on a new first class postage stamp to be issued later this month.
The stamp will be part of a set celebrating iconic landmarks which will include The Everyman Theatre, Liverpool. The Everyman, designed by Haworth Tompkins, appears as one of 10 buildings that best represent contemporary architecture in the UK.
The Everyman Theatre won the highest architectural award, the RIBA Stirling Prize, in 2014 and Display Developments were proud to have been chosen by the architects as the preferred supplier of the external poster cases.

Display Developments were approached by Blaze, the urban cycling brand leaders, to manufacture unique display cases to showcase their new laserlights in retail stores. The display case needed an integral mirror to reflect light from the laserlights onto the ceiling.
Display Developments are skilled in making acrylic display cases but the projection of the laserlight beam presented a challenge. A key requirement was the ability to reflect the laser light at a specific angle ensuring the light would be visible from anywhere in the store. Due to the limitation of the overall dimensions of the case, it had to be designed to ensure the laserlight was positioned perfectly straight in the middle of the display case.
Several prototypes were completed to test the different mirror angles but the final design totally fulfilled the brief and Blaze were delighted with the finished product.

If you frequently visit restaurants you will no doubt have noticed that many of the fast food chains are now displaying menu options on digital tablets such as ipads. As the majority of their customers are younger and therefore more comfortable browsing and even placing orders via a tablet display this does seems like a sensible menu display choice and could even help attract more customers to that cheaper end of the market.
However, rest assured that most restaurant customers still prefer to view a printed menu and therefore they will have the full menu on view. They can scan the whole menu display without having to scroll or touch a screen that others have touched with greasy or dirty fingers and also of course left their germs on the screen to be transferred onto the next viewer’s fingers.

Vacuum Forming or Thermoforming, as the process is also known, is one of the original methods of manipulating plastic material. Vacuum formed products surround us all the time and are a huge part of our everyday life.
The process involves taking a sheet of plastic and heating it until soft and malleable and then draping it over a preformed mould. A vacuum is then applied which thereby sucks the sheet into or around the mould and the finished product is then removed from the mould. The most advanced form of vacuum forming uses very sophisticated pneumatic, hydraulic and heat controls which enables a much higher production speed and also much more detailed vacuum formed products.
The most commonly used materials used in vacuum forming are as follows;
Butadiene Styrene ABS
Polyester Copolymer PETG
Polyethylene (sheet and foamed sheet) PE
Polyvinyl Chloride PVC
Typical Vacuum Formed Products
• Shower Trays
• Yoghurt Pots
• Boat Hulls
• Machinery Guards
• Vehicle Door Liners
