Kone Lifts Safety Doors
UK-based company Kone approached Display Developments to help them develop a safety door system to be used during routine lift maintenance.
The requirements were that the units had to be light enough for a single person to handle/assemble. They had to be modular to allow for various width lift shafts and also meet stringent fire regulations which are an industry impact/destruction requirement.
Working closely with Kone over a number of months Display Developments designed and produced a number of prototypes. Each prototype was sent for testing with detailed reports returned to us for our expertise to resolve any issues. Using a Vacuum Formed twin skin Fire Retardant ABS cover reinforced with a steel box section core, Display Developments were able to meet all the requirements set.
Our large format vacuum forming machines allowed the door frame to be formed as a single piece measuring 2200 x 1170mm. Kone insisted that materials should be responsibly sourced. DD produced all samples from a Reprocessed Fire Retardant ABS with all waste being recycled.
