Display Developments have recently been involved in the ongoing refurbishment of street lighting for Kent County Council and in particular the manufacture of tear drop street lighting covers for their new LED lights which will in future contribute to major cost savings for tax payers.
The street lights are to be converted over to LED lighting and their covers are made by Display Developments from a high quality long-life exterior grade polycarbonate material. The covers are constructed to provide each LED street light with the vision clarity required for pedestrians, road users and evening road repairers. It is estimated that the conversion to LED will save tax payers a total of £5.2 million a year and pay for itself in 8 years.
The manufacturing and fabrication process consists of vacuum forming sheets of polycarbonate material, achieved by a thermoforming procedure giving us capabilities to obtain various shapes and forms as seen below.
